Breton passion at its best

Is Brest the perfect place to be? With its strong character, its beautiful buildings and its own unique style, the city is a true landmark in France’s west. Close to the ocean, well connected, always up to date and with plenty of different influences, the Brittany region and the Département Finistère are areas for sports of all kinds.

Brest is well-known for various water activities in its 180 square kilometre-large bay throughout the year. But this is not where it stops : 45,000 people are registered in a sport club of any kind, exercising in skating, swimming, horse riding, climbing – and of course in handball.

The modern Brest Arena was opened in 2014 and has been specifically designed for handball. It is the home of local side Brest Bretagne Handball who regularly a great atmosphere in the Brest Arena. It was only in 2016 that the club made it to the first French division. In the same year the club won the French cup and made its debut in the Women’s EHF Cup.

In January 2017 Brest Arena hosted the President’s Cup matches at the Men’s World Championship – with several games being sold out, it was sign of what there is to come when the Women’s EHF EURO 2018 comes to town. Brest and the Brest Arena will welcome the teams of Group D in the preliminary round – and this is for sure when Breton passion at its best will be felt.
