After the completion of the preliminary round for Group A and Group B, five teams at the EHF EURO 2018 packed their bags.
But while the two bottom-ranked teams Poland and Slovenia head home, the three qualifiers from Group B in Nancy – Russia, France and Montenegro - are on the way to Nantes, where they join Serbia, Sweden and Denmark.
Following a rest day on Wednesday, the main round action in Group I starts on Thursday at 18:00 CET when the tournament’s hosts take on Denmark. This match will be followed by the clash between Sweden and Montenegro.
Both group winners, Serbia and Russia, will get an extra day off and will return to the court on Friday.
The reigning Olympic champions from Russia are the only team to start the main round in Nantes with the maximum of four points. Serbia, Sweden, France and Denmark follow with two, while Montenegro enter the new phase with zero points.
Only the two best sides from the group will reach the semi-finals following the completion of the main round.
